What you can expect from your Women of Note Membership
  • As a member of WoN, you will have opportunity to develop choral music skill singing in an ensemble designed to accommodate varying levels of experience with supportive members of the sisterhood.
  • As a member of WoN, you will have opportunity to sing interesting and challenging repertoire as you develop choral music skill.
  • As a member of WoN, you will be expected to dedicate time and talent on your own in preparing and practicing the materials used in rehearsals. (Recorded rehearsal tracks are provided to enhance your practice experience.)
  • As a member of WoN, you will be expected to participate in all activities of the choir including rehearsals, performances, fundraising activities and social events.

Rehearsals
WoN rehearsals take place weekly from early September to early May at The United Church in Meadowood at 1111 Dakota St. in Winnipeg.
  • Chorale: Tuesdays    7:00-9:00 PM
  • Chamber Singers: Thursdays   7:00-9:00 PM
  • Massed Choir: One Saturday per term

Joining the choir is a 2-step process
  1. Entrance Interview: A virtual conversation with the co-artistic directors gives them the opportunity to get to know you a little and gives you the opportunity to find out everything about Women of Note.
  2. Placement Audition: An informal, in person, audition experience, including vocalize, ear tests, sight singing (Chamber Singers only) and the singing of O Canada helps the co-artistic directors determine the best placement for you in the choir to ensure the most positive WoN experience for you.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to do what they love. That's why the Women of Note Board of Directors created the Angel Fund, to provide financial help to choristers who might not be able to fulfill the financial expectations that comes with a membership. The Angel Fund is funded by choristers and patron contributions.
Women of Note acknowledges that we gather to sing and enjoy music on Treaty One Territory, the home and traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Metis Nation. We commit to moving forward harmoniously with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
