Women of Note Honoured with Special Member Statement in the Manitoba Legislature

4/11/2024

On May 27, 2024, Women of Note was honoured with a special Member Statement in the Manitoba Legislature to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and the significant contributions of our founder, Patricia Rabson to choral music in Manitoba.

About 20 choristers performed 3 songs (Ain’t I a Woman, Seal Lullaby, Still I Rise) on the Grand Staircase. Then, the group entered the chamber where the Member Statement was read aloud, and the provincial caucus paid tribute to WoN with a standing ovation. Thank you to MLA, Billie Cross for hosting us and being part of our 30th Anniversary.

Women of Note acknowledges that we gather to sing and enjoy music on Treaty One Territory, the home and traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Metis Nation. We commit to moving forward harmoniously with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
