Women of Note Express Program

Saturday February 25, 2017

Women of Note is on a mission to share the joy of song with our entire community. The Express Program gives us an opportunity to perform for people who are unable to attend our concerts. Twice a year, WoN travel to different institutions to perform mini concerts. We also offer blocks of tickets to senior centres to give residents the opportunity to attend our concerts in person.

On February 25th, 25 members of the choir will board a Winnipeg Transit bus and take our joyful noise on the road once more. We will visit three retirement residences - Lions Place, Lions Manor and St James Kiwanis Village - to perform a mini version of our spring concert, Wine, Women & Song. The presentation will feature vocal jazz and musical theatre favourites, including How High the Moon, Don't Get Around Much Anymore, Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend and Just One of Those Things, just to name a few.

A big thank you to the Winnipeg Foundation for helping Women of Note make it all possible.

A Celebration of Christmas Carols with Women of Note

Sunday December 4, 2016 at 3pm
Westminster United Church

An afternoon of beautiful choral singing. This year's concert includes Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with harpist Samantha Ballard, Gwyneth Walker’s Appalachian Carols with a brass quintet comprised music students from University of Manitoba, and John Rutter’s Dancing Day. Of course, we will also include some of everyone's favourite traditional carols. Join us at 2:45 pm for a little pre-concert Carol Sing-a-Long.

Women of Note presents Magnificent Magnificat featuring Kim André Arnesen's beautiful Magnificat, as well as a Christmas review of delightful and somewhat cheeky arrangements of a more secular Christmas repertoire.

Peace & Love

Peace and Love was the theme for this event and Building Bridges a subtext to that theme. We were delighted to share the stage with our new friends, Buffalo Gals Drum Group (fondly called the BG’s) of the North End Women’s Centre.
